Trading strategies and signals

1. What are Strategies?

A strategy is a plan for when to buy and sell. For example: "Buy AAPL when the price crosses above the 200-day line". Singularity Trader can automatically generate signals based on your strategies.

2. What are Signals?

A signal is a notification that your strategy conditions are met. For example, if your strategy says "Buy when RSI > 70", you get a signal when RSI crosses above 70. You don't need to understand strategies to use the platform. Many users only manually enter their trades.

3. Example Strategy

Here's a simple example: A "Trend Follower" strategy might work like this: CONDITION 1: 50-day Moving Average above 200-day MA (uptrend). CONDITION 2: RSI between 40 and 70. If both conditions are met: BUY. This strategy would automatically generate buy signals when the uptrend is active.

4. Strategy Templates (Guides Tab)

In the strategies section you'll find the Guides tab with official templates from Singularity Trader. Each template explains:

• Which indicators and conditions are used
• When the strategy works well (market phases, asset classes)
• Typical backtest metrics

One click on "Apply" creates the template as a new strategy in your account — you can customize it freely afterwards. Templates with an 🏷️ Official badge are also recognizable in the community view. Current templates: Wheel Strategy, Kaiserschmarrn Strategy (5-indicator confluence with 4-of-5 confirmation), MACD Momentum, classic trend following.

5. Assign Markets in Groups

When setting up a strategy, the Markets tab shows a grouped view: S&P 500, NASDAQ 100, DAX, your watchlists, your own portfolio — each expandable. This lets you assign all stocks from a watchlist or index at once, instead of searching for them individually.

6. New Indicators & Operators

The following condition types are now available:

MACD Histogram Shrinking — detects when momentum is fading (ideal exit trigger)
Bollinger Breakout and Mean Reversion as separate variants
RSI Divergence (bullish/bearish) detects reversals that price alone doesn't yet show
ADX Filter — trend following only when ADX > 25, mean reversion only when ADX < 20
Volume Spike as confirmation

All indicators can be freely combined with AND/OR and weighted (e.g., "4 of 5 conditions met").

7. Backtesting Strategies

With Backtest you can test how your strategy would have performed in the past — before risking real money.

How it works:
1. Open your strategy → Backtest tab
2. Choose the time period (e.g., last 2 years) and markets
3. Choose the mode:
   ◦ Entry-Only — tests entry signals only; positions are closed after a fixed holding period
   ◦ Entry+Exit — full simulation with your exit rules
4. Start — results appear within seconds

What you get:
Equity curve over the entire period
Metrics: Win rate, Profit Factor, Sharpe Ratio, Max Drawdown, trade count, avg. win/loss
Market comparison: strategy performance vs. Buy-and-Hold on the same market
History cards — all your previous backtests with their settings; click to view details

Note for Free accounts: Max 5 markets per backtest, history deleted after 10 days. Premium: unlimited, permanent storage.

Important: A good backtest result is no guarantee — it only shows how the strategy would have behaved under past conditions. Always check: How many trades? How many regimes (trend, range, crash)? Is the sample large enough?
